Hi! We are Stella Bacon, Ck Killimett, and Avery Alexander! We are juniors at Whitefield Academy! We are so excited to be leading this year's Leukemia and Lymphoma Society team! This year, We’m proud to be a part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign, working to raise as much as possible for LLS’s mission

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on that same vision - of a better world - one without blood cancers.

Stella's WHY: Hi! I am honored to be able to lead this wonderful group this year. I was originally drawn to LLS because my Grandfather was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma in his late 60s. He bravely fought it for 15 years before passing away in October. He is my honoree to raise money for those and their families that are also fighting cancer. I know that through this campaign we WILL make a difference in helping find new ways to beat this disease. 

This is my siblings and my grandfather in the middle: 

Ck's 'WHY': Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer at some point. For me, that person is my best friend’s mom. A few years back she was diagnosed with cancer in her colon. After beating cancer once she recently received the hard news that her cancer had come back but this time it was in a different area of her body. Mrs. Ferhana is the strongest woman I know and is someone I greatly admire and love. When I learned about LLS and their mission to help find a cure for cancer I knew it was something I had to be a part of because I want to help make a difference.

Avery's 'WHY': I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to raise money for blood cancer and to make a difference in the lives of those who suffer from cancer. I want to help raise money for cancer research by honoring my great grandmother who passed away from cancer. When you are close to someone who suffered from cancer, you get a first hand experience of how agonizing the disease can be. Through the loss of my great grandmother, I am very determined to raise money to overcome and beat cancer. I am eager to help those suffering with cancer and cannot wait to see the amazing works of God through this campaign.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

• Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
• Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
• Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.
